Bisite 5th 5-Axis Line Goes Live — Makino Machining Center First Batch Delivered

Makino 5-Axis Installed — First Article Precision Validation Passed on First Try
In February this year, the newly procured Makino D500 5-axis vertical machining center completed installation at Bisite. This is not our first 5-axis — but the selection process took six months, because "functional" and "truly capable" are two very different things in 5-axis.
After 3 months of commissioning, thermal run-in, and process validation, the first customer parts were delivered in late April. CMM full-dimension inspection reports show key feature dimensional deviation stable within ±3μm, with roundness and cylindricity all passing.
Why Makino
To be honest, the 5-axis market is highly competitive — we evaluated DMG MORI, Mazak, and Makino. We chose Makino for two core reasons:
- Thermal displacement compensation: Makino GI control system compensates spindle thermal deformation in real-time, delivering noticeably better long-run precision consistency
- Rigidity: The D500 bed uses a one-piece cast iron structure — chatter control during interrupted cuts is significantly better than our previous equipment
What This Means for Customers
With this additional 5-axis, Bisite machining capability for complex curved parts (impellers, housings, multi-face structural parts) has qualitatively improved. Parts that previously required 3 clampings now complete in a single setup — fewer clampings means better precision assurance.
Our current 5-axis capability covers:
- Max workpiece size: Ø700 x 500mm
- Positioning accuracy: ±3μm
- Repeatability: ±2μm
- Tool capacity: 60 tools
